Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been a subject of transfer speculations to Chelsea in the past few weeks, with discussion ongoing with the Spanish club over a transfer.

The former Arsenal captain has fallen out of favour with Barcelona manager Xavi following the arrival of Poland's gifted striker Robert Lewandowski, who has become his choice to lead his attacking frontline.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has only played eight minutes in Barcelona's last three appearances and is keen on moving to Stamford Bridge this summer after agreeing on personal terms with the Blues. At the same time, Chelsea are also said to be pushing to close the deal before the transfer window closes in two days.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is said to be a fervent admirer of the striker, having worked with the Gabon international player at Borrusia Dortmund and is seeking to sign him as a replacement for loaned Romelu Lukaku, who left to Inter Milan this summer after a poor season.

With the negotiation between the two parties still on, Aubameyang may have been handed a setback in the deal after he was reportedly suffered a broken jaw following an attack by burglars in his home.

Several reports suggest he could be out for a few weeks, while Sky Sports claims he could be out for three weeks, which could be a major setback for his move to Chelsea.

Despite the setback, the Premier League club have continued negotiations with Barcelona and are optimistic about completing the deal as Thomas Tuchel is desperate for a center-forward but may opt to reduce his salary since he will not be playing immediately.

The German manager has used Raheem Sterling as a false nine in Chelsea's last five matches, which may have limited their scoring record to only six goals, and he is desperate to sign a natural striker to solve their attacking problem.

Signing Aubameyang would be a great addition to Tuchel's team, as he is a natural center-forward who can score a lot of goals, which could save Chelsea from their poor scoring record this season.
